Psalms 35

Psalm 35 KJV

David prayeth for safety to himself, and confusion to his enemies: 11he complaineth of their false witness, ingratitude, and malice against him: 22he moveth God to do him right, and avenge him.
a Psalm of David.
Plead 1my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
Take hold of 1shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: 1say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
Let 1them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
Let 1them be as chaff before the wind: 2and let the angel of the Lord chase them.
Let their way be adark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.
For 1without cause have they 2hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.
Let 1destruction come upon him aat unawares; and 2let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
And 1my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: 2it shall rejoice in his salvation.
All 1my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which 2deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
aFalse 1witnesses did rise up; bthey laid to my charge things that I knew not.
They 1rewarded me evil for good to the aspoiling of my soul.
But 1as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I ahumbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer 2returned into mine own bosom.
I abehaved myself bas though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
But in mine aadversity 1they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
With 1hypocritical mockers in feasts, 2they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
Lord, 1how long wilt thou look on? 2rescue my soul from their destructions, amy darling from the lions.
I 1will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among amuch people.
Let not them that are mine enemies awrongfully rejoice over me: neither let 1them wink with the eye that hate 2me without a cause.
For 1they speak not peace: 2but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
Yea, 1they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
this thou hast seen, O Lord: 1keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
Stir 1up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, 2my God and my Lord.
Judge 1me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and 2let them not rejoice over me.
Let them not say in their hearts, aAh, so would we have it: let them not say, 1We have swallowed him up.
Let 1them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that 2magnify themselves against me.
Let 1them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour amy righteous cause: yea, 2let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, 3which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
And 1my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
