Peter 1

Peter Chapter 1 KJV

The apostle's address to the strangers elect in Christ, dispersed throughout the lesser Asia. 3He blesseth God for having raised them to the hope of a blessed immortality. 10He sheweth that their salvation in Christ had been foretold by the prophets of old; 13and exhorteth them to a vigilant and holy conversation, suitable to their calling, and redemption by the blood of Christ; 22and to mutual love.
1PETER, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to 2the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1Elect according to 2the foreknowledge of God the Father, 3through sanctification of the Spirit, 4unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: 5Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
1Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which 2according to his aabundant mercy 3hath begotten us again unto a lively hope 4by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven afor you,
1Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation 2ready to be revealed in the last time.
Wherein 1ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That 1the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, 2ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
1Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time 1the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, 2when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
Unto whom it was revealed, 1that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you 2with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; 3which things the angels desire to look into.
Wherefore 1gird up the loins of your mind, 2be sober, and hope ato the end for the 3grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1As obedient children, 2not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts 3in your ignorance:
But as he which 1hath called you is holy, 2so be ye holy in all manner of 3conversation;
Because it is written, 1Be ye holy; for I am holy.
And if ye 1call on the Father, 2who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, 3pass the time of your sojourning here in 4fear:
Forasmuch as ye know that 1ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your 2vain conversation 3received by tradition from your fathers;
1But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but 2was manifest in these last times for you,
Who 1by him do believe in God, that 2raised him up from the dead, and 3gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Seeing ye have 1purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto 2unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another 3with a pure heart fervently:
1Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by 2the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
aFor 1all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. 2And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
