Thessalonians 4

Thessalonians Chapter 4 KJV

Paul exhorteth the Thessalonians to proceed in their endeavours to please God by a holy and just conversation. 9He commendeth their love to one another, entreating them to abound in it, 11and quietly to follow their respective callings. 13And that they might not sorrow for the dead, as men without hope, he briefly describeth the resurrection of the just, and Christ's second coming.
Furthermore then 1we abeseech you, brethren, and bexhort you by the Lord Jesus, that 2as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, 3so ye would abound more and more.
For ye know 1what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
1For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
That every one of you should know how to 1possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
1Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
That no man 1go beyond and adefraud his brother bin any matter: because that 2the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
For 1God hath not called us unto 2uncleanness, but unto holiness.
He therefore that adespiseth, 1despiseth not man, but God, who 2hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
1But as touching 2brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are 3taught of God to love one another.
And indeed ye do 1it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye 2increase more and more;
And that 1ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
That 1ye may walk honestly toward 2them that are without, and that ye may have lack aof nothing.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are 1asleep, that 2ye sorrow not, even as others 3which have no hope.
For 1if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which 2sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you 1by the word of the Lord, that 2we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of 2the archangel, and with the trump of God: 3and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we 1which are alive and remain 2shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so 3shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore 1acomfort one another with these words.
