Ephesians 4

Ephesians Chapter 4 KJV

Paul exhorteth to those virtues which become the Christian calling, particularly to unity: 7declaring that Christ gave his gifts differently, that his body the church might be built up and perfected in the true faith by the cooperation of the individual members with one another, and with him their head. 17He calleth men off from the vain and impure conversation of the heathen world, 22to renounce the old, and to put on the new, man: 25to discard lying, 26and sinful anger; 28to leave off dishonest practices, and to gain by honest labour what they have occasion for; 29to use no corrupt talk, 30nor grieve God's Spirit; 31to put away all expressions of ill will, and to practise mutual kindness and forgiveness.
I THEREFORE, the 1prisoner aof the Lord, beseech you that ye 2walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
1With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
1Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
there is 1one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in 2one hope of your calling;
1One Lord, 2one faith, 3one baptism,
1One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
But unto every one of us 1is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Wherefore he saith, 1When he ascended up on high, he led acaptivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
(now that he ascended, what is it but that he also 1descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
He that descended is the same also that 1ascended up far above all heavens, that he might afill all things.)
1And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, 2pastors and 3teachers;
1For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the 2body of Christ:
1Till we all come ain the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the bstature of 2the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more 1children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But 1aspeaking the truth in love, 2may grow up into him in all things, which is 3the head, even Christ:
1From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
1This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that 2ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
1Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through 2the ignorance that is in them, because of the ablindness of their heart:
1Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
1But ye have not so learned Christ;
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, 1as the truth is in Jesus:
That ye 1put off concerning the former 2conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And 1be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on 1the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and atrue holiness.
Wherefore 1putting away lying, 2speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are 3members one of another.
1Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
1Neither give place to the devil.
1Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him 2labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, 3that he may have ato give to him that needeth.
1Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good ato the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
And 1grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are 2sealed unto the day of redemption.
1Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And 1be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
