Hebrews 3

Christ is shewed to be more worthy than Moses: 7we must be careful therefore not to follow the example of the obstinate and unbelieving Israelites in the wilderness.

1WHEREFORE, 2holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider 3the Apostle and High Priest of our 4profession, Christ Jesus;

Who was 1faithful to him that aappointed him, as also 2Moses was faithful in all his house.

1For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

For every house is builded by some man; but he that 1built all things is God.

And 1Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

But Christ 1as a son over his own house; 2whose house are we, 3if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing 4of the hope firm unto the end.

1Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, 2To day if ye will hear his voice,

1Harden not your hearts, 2as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

1When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

1Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

So I 1sware in my wrath, aThey shall not enter into my rest.)

1Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

But 1exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; 2lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we are made 1partakers of Christ, 2if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

While it is said, 1To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

1For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit 2not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with 1them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, 1but to them that believed not?

So we see that 1they could not enter in because of unbelief.
