Lamentations 3

Lamentations Chapter 3 KJV

The prophet bewaileth his own calamities: 22he acknowledgeth God's mercies and truth to be a proper ground of patient hope: 37he maketh humble confession of the sins which had drawn down God's severe judgments: 55he prayeth to be avenged of his enemies.
I AM the man 1that hath seen affliction 2by the rod of his wrath.
He hath led me, and 1brought me into 2darkness, but not into light.
Surely 1against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
1My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
1He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
1He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
1He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my 2chain heavy.
Also 1when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
1He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
1He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
1He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
1He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
1He hath caused the aarrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
1I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
He hath filled me with abitterness, 1he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
He hath also 1broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath acovered me with ashes.
And 1thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I 2forgat aprosperity.
And I said, 1My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
aRemembering 1mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is ahumbled in me.
1This I arecall to my mind, btherefore 2have I hope.
1It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
they are 1new every morning: great is thy 2faithfulness.
The Lord is 1my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I 2hope in him.
1The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
1It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
1It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
1He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
1He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
1He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
1For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
But though 1he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
1For he doth not afflict awillingly nor grieve the children of men.
1To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
1To turn aside the right of a man before the face of athe most High,
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord aapproveth not.
1Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
1Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
Wherefore doth a living man acomplain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
1Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
1Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
1We have transgressed and have rebelled: 2thou hast not pardoned.
1Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, 1that our prayer should not pass through.
Thou hast made us as the 1offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
All our enemies 1have opened their mouths against us.
1Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
1Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
1Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
Mine eye affecteth amine heart bbecause of 1all the daughters of my city.
1Mine enemies chased me sore, 2like a bird, 3without cause.
1They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and 2cast a stone upon me.
1Waters flowed over mine head; 2then I said, I am cut off.
1I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.
1Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my 2breathing, at my cry.
1Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, 2Fear not.
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou 1hast redeemed my life.
O Lord, thou hast seen 1my wrong: 2judge thou my cause.
Thou hast seen 1all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
Behold their 1sitting down, and their rising up; I am 2their musick.
1Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
1Give them asorrow of heart, thy 2curse unto them.
1Persecute and destroy them in anger from 2under the heavens of the Lord.
