1The church's love unto Christ: 5she confesseth her deformity, 7and prayeth to be directed to His flock. 8Christ directeth her to the shepherds' tents: 9and shewing His love to her, 11giveth her gracious promises. 12The church and Christ congratulate one another.
1 The 1song of songs, which is Solomon's.
2 1Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: 2for athy love is better than wine.
3 1Because of the savour of thy good ointments 2thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the 3virgins love thee.
4 1Draw me, we will run after thee: 2the king hath brought me into his chambers: 3we will be glad and rejoice in thee, 4we will remember thy love more than wine: athe upright love thee.
5 1I am black, but comely, 2O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as 3the tents of 4Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
6 Look not upon me, because 1I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: 2my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
7 Tell me, 1O thou whom my soul loveth, where 2thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: 3for why should I be aas one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
8 ¶ If thou know not, 1O thou fairest among women, 2go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.
9 I have compared thee, 1O my love, 2to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.
10 1Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.
11 1We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
12 ¶ While 1the king sitteth at his table, my 2spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
13 1A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of acamphire in the vineyards of En-gedi.
15 Behold, 1thou art fair, amy love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.
16 1Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: 2also our bed is green.
17 1The beams of our house are cedar, and our arafters of fir.
