Corinthians 1

Corinthians Chapter 1 KJV

After saluting the church at Corinth, 4and thanking God for his grace toward them, 10Paul exhorteth them to unity, 11and reproveth their dissensions. 17The plain doctrine of the gospel, however foolish in the eyes of the world, is the power and wisdom of God to the salvation of believers. 26God, to take away human boasting, hath not called the wise, the mighty, the noble; but the foolish, the weak, the despised among men. 30Christ is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.
Paul, 1called to be 2an apostle of Jesus Christ 3through the will of God, and 4Sosthenes our brother,
1Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that 2are sanctified in Christ Jesus, 3called to be 4saints, with 5all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
1Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
1That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all 2knowledge;
Even as 1the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
So that 1ye come behind in no gift; 2waiting for the acoming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall also 1confirm you unto the end, that ye may be 2blameless in 3the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1God is faithful, by whom ye were 2called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Now I 1beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 2that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no adivisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are 1contentions among you.
Now this 1I say, that every one of you saith, 2I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of 3Cephas; and I of Christ.
1Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye 2baptized in the name of Paul?
I thank God that 1I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
1Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
And 1I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
For Christ sent me 1not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: 2not with wisdom of awords, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
For 1the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us 2which are saved it is the power of God.
For it is written, 1I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer 2of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For 1the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But 1we preach 2Christ crucified, 3unto the Jews a 4stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them 1which are called, both Jews and Greeks, 2Christ the power of God, and 3the wisdom of God.
1Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For ye see your 1calling, brethren, how that 2not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
But 1God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and 1things which are not, 2to bring to nought things that are:
1That no flesh should glory in his presence.
But of him are ye 1in Christ Jesus, who 2of God is made unto us 3wisdom, and 4righteousness, and 5sanctification, and 6redemption:
That, according as it is written, 1He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
