Philippians 2

Philippians Chapter 2 KJV

Paul earnestly recommendeth to the Philippians mutual love and union, 3lowliness of mind, 4and that charitable condescension for the good of others, exemplified in the life and death of Christ, 9for which God had exalted him to be Lord of all. 12He exhorteth them to carefulness in working out their own salvation, 14to obey the will of God cheerfully and universally, that so they might distinguish themselves from the rest of the world by a bright example of virtue; 16and by their steadiness give him cause to rejoice in the success of his labours, who would gladly lay down his life to serve them. 19He hopeth to send Timothy to them shortly, whom he greatly commendeth; 21as he doth the affection and zeal of Epaphroditus, whom he sendeth with this epistle.
If there 1be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
1Fulfil ye my joy, that ye 2be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
1Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in 2lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
1Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
1Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, 1being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of 1no reputation, and took upon him 2the form of a servant, and 3was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in afashion as a man, 1he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also 1hath highly exalted him, and given him 2a name which is above every name:
1That at the name of Jesus 2every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess 1that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Wherefore, my beloved, 1as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, 2work out your own salvation with 3fear and trembling.
1For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do 2of his good pleasure.
1Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
1That ye may be blameless and aharmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, 2in the midst of 3a crooked and perverse nation, among whom bye shine as lights in the world;
1Holding forth the 2word of life; 3that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I 4have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
1Yea, and if I be aoffered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
For the same cause also 1do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
1aBut I trust in the Lord Jesus to send 2Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
For I have no man alikeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
For all 1seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
But ye know the proof of him, that, 1as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
But 1I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you 1Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
For he 1longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
For indeed he was 1sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, 2but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
1Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and ahold such in reputation:
Because for 1the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
