Psalms 73

Psalm 73 KJV

1The Psalmist sheweth that his faith had almost failed him on seeing the prosperity of the wicked; 15but that, unwilling to give up the cause of goodness, he had at length discovered their fearful end: 23his trust in God's present support and future favour: 27he concludeth it best to adhere to God.
A Psalm aof Asaph.
1 Trulya 1God is good to Israel, even to such as are bof a 2clean heart.
2 But as for me, 1my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For 1I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the 2prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are 1no bands in their death: but their strength is afirm.
5 1They are not ain trouble as other men; neither are they plagued blike other men.
6 Therefore 1pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Their 1eyes stand out with fatness: athey have more than heart could wish.
8 They 1are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: 2they speak loftily.
9 They 1set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Therefore his people 1return hither: and 2waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 And they say, 1How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 1Behold, these are the ungodly, 2who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Verily 1I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 For 1all the day long have I been plagued, and achastened every morning.
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, 1I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 When 1I thought to know this, ait was too painful for me;
17 Until 1I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I 2their end.
18 Surely 1thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 How 1are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 As 1a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Thus 1my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 So 1foolish was I, and aignorant: I was as a beast bbefore thee.
23 Nevertheless 1I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou 1shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward 2receive me to glory.
25 1Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My 1flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the astrength of my heart, and 2my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, 1they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that 2go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is 1good for me to draw near to God: 2I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
