1David prayeth for remission of his sins, whereof he maketh a deep confession: 16he prayeth God to sanctify him. 16God delighteth not in sacrifice, but in contrition of heart: 18David prayeth for the welfare of the church.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, 1when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.

1Have 1mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies 2blot out my transgressions.
21Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3For 1I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
41Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: 2that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5Behold, I 1was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother aconceive me.
6Behold, 1thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
71Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
81Make me to hear joy and gladness; that2the bones which thou 3hast broken may rejoice.
91Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
101Create in me a clean heart, O God; and 2renew aa right spirit within me.
111Cast me not away 2from thy presence; and take not thy 3holy spirit from me.
12Restore unto me the 1joy of thy salvation; and 2uphold me with thy3free spirit.
13then1will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14Deliver me from abloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and1my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15O Lord, 1open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16For thou 1desirest not sacrifice; aelse would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17The 1sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18Do 1good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: 2build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19Then 1shalt thou be pleased with the 2sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and 3whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
