1O God, 1why hast thou cast us off for ever? why2doth thine anger smoke against 3the sheep of thy pasture?
2Remember 1thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the arod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this 2mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
31Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual 2desolations; even all that3the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
41Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; 2they set up their ensigns for signs.
5a man was famous according as he 1had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.
6But now they break down 1the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.
7aThey have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
8They said in their hearts, 1Let us adestroy them together: they have burned up all the 2synagogues of God in the land.
9We 1see not our signs: there is2no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
10O God, 1how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
11Why 1withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom.
12For 1God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
13Thou 1didst adivide the sea by thy strength: thou 2brakest the heads of the bdragons in the waters.
14Thou brakest the heads of 1leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be2meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
15Thou 1didst cleave the fountain and the flood: 2thou driedst up amighty rivers.
16The 1day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.
17Thou 1hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast amade summer and winter.
181Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Lord, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
19O deliver not the soul of thy 1turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.
201Have respect unto the covenant: for the 2dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
21O 1let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
221Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man 2reproacheth thee daily.
23Forget not the voice of thine enemies: 1the tumult of those that rise up against thee aincreaseth continually.
